eSIM Setup Guide

Follow these simple steps to install your Japan eSIM

Before You Start

Device Compatibility

iPhone XS+ or Android with eSIM support

Unlocked Device

Your phone must be carrier-unlocked

Wi-Fi Connection

Strong internet for profile download

Choose Your Device

iOS Setup Instructions

Open Settings

Tap on the Settings app on your iPhone home screen.

Go to Cellular/Mobile Data

Scroll down and tap on 'Cellular' (or 'Mobile Data' in some regions).

Add Cellular Plan

Tap 'Add Cellular Plan' or 'Add eSIM'. Your camera will open automatically.

Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi for this step.

Scan QR Code

Point your camera at the QR code from your email. The code will be detected automatically.

Add Cellular Plan

Tap 'Add Cellular Plan' when prompted. The eSIM profile will download and install.

Label Your Plan

Choose a label for your eSIM (e.g., 'Japan Travel'). This helps you identify it later.

Select Default Line

Choose which line to use for cellular data. Select your new eSIM for data usage in Japan.

Keep your home number as default for calls and messages to avoid roaming charges.

Turn On Data Roaming

Go to Settings → Cellular → [Your eSIM] → Data Roaming and turn it ON. This is required for the eSIM to work.

Troubleshooting

QR code won't scan
Try moving closer to the QR code, cleaning your camera lens, or increasing screen brightness. You can also manually enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code if scanning fails.
eSIM profile download fails
Make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection. If the download fails, wait a few minutes and try again. Check that your device storage has enough space.
No data connection in Japan
Ensure data roaming is enabled for your eSIM and that the eSIM is selected for cellular data. Try turning airplane mode on/off or restarting your device.
